RECENT PROJECTS - 2013

This widow who lives alone broke both of her hands last year. We were told that her well had become too toxic to use and she had to walk over 600 meters to obtain water from a neighbor. Her dirty clothes were piling up and a daughter who worked in another town had to come and spend weekends helping to carry water and wash clothes by hand. In 2012 we were able to run pipes from her house to a main pipe system so that she could have water to her home, but it was cold water only. She had to lift heavy pots to heat water for washing clothes and other necessities. Her hands are still in pain, so we are now (June 2013) installing a gas heater to heat the cold water, to help alleviate a little more of her heavy burden.

This is the original install:

Anna no longer has to hike across ice and snow in winter, through rain, storms, and other bad weather to carry small amounts of water in her painful condition. She has a source of cold, and soon, hot water running to her home for the first time in her life. Projects like this are hugely life changing and cost less than $1,000.
